Services for Russell G. Steen, 94, Lawrence, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Steen died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

He was born March 24, 1905, in Chillicothe, Mo., the son of Francis Marion and Mary Elizabeth (Anderson) Steen. He moved to Lawrence in 1935.

During World War II, Mr. Steen worked at the ordnance plants in Parsons and DeSoto. He later worked at Lawrence Sanitary Dairy, All Star Dairy, Alvamar and then Dillons. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a past member of the Lawrence Sertoma Club.

He married Mary Elizabeth Patton on May 25, 1934, in Fayette, Mo. She died Sept. 6, 1989.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia L. Eckart, Bella Vista, Ark.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The family suggests memorials to the Adult Day Program at Lawrence Senior Center or Youth Room at First Presbyterian Church, and they may be sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
