Each year the Kansas Department of Transportation accepts applications for funding for programs under the Transportation Equity Act of the 21st Century (TEA-21).
Projects that ultimately are selected by KDOT must fall into one of three categories: historic, scenic/environmental or pedestrian/bicycle facilities.
Of the projects being considered Wednesday by planners, none are in the historic category; three fall under scenic/environmental; and nine are categorized as pedestrian or bicycle improvements.
