OBITUARY FOR EDDIE PAYNE

Services for Eddie E. Payne, 63, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Payne died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at his home.

He was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Lawrence, the son of Arthur and Minnie Marie (Lucas) Payne. He was a lifelong resident of Lawrence.

Mr. Payne was a truck driver for Lawrence Asphalt for 23 years, retiring in 1989. He had also worked for the city of Lawrence and Kansas University.

He married Grace Harris in 1962. They were divorced in 1976.

He then married Minnie Cassell in 1979. They were divorced in 1981.

Survivors include five daughters, Barbara Harris, Brenda Taylor, Peggie Payne, Rhonda Payne and Norma Payne, all of Lawrence; three sons, Stanley Harris, Eddie Payne Jr. and Ricky Payne, all of Lawrence; nine brothers, James Moore, Lawrence, Charles Moore, Long Beach, Calif., Jimmie Moore, Lincoln, Neb., Jack Moore and Jake Moore, both of Houston, David Moore and Lowell Moore, both of Los Angeles, Carl Moore, Anaheim, Calif., and Robert Moore, San Diego; a sister, Faye Smith, San Diego; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County, and they may be sent in care of the mortuary.
