London filmmaker
to visit Lawrence
Kevin Brownlow, London filmmaker and author, will visit Lawrence next week for the showing of one of his films and to visit a silent-film class at Kansas University.
Brownlow's "It Happened Here" will be shown at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty Hall. This film and his "Winstanley" are considered landmarks in British independent cinema.
Before the showing, Brownlow will be signing his latest book, "Mary Pickford Rediscovered," from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Liberty Hall lobby.
He will visit the KU class "History of the International Silent" at 7:30 p.m. Monday. He will give a free lecture in 3139 Wescoe also.
