Ozawkie man shares

Crappie Busters title

Lynn Beckwith of Ozawkie and Joe Crai of Topeka caught 15 crappie that weighed 9.21 pounds and won the Crappie Busters tournament last Sunday at Clinton Lake.

Frank Steehn of Raytown, Mo., and Jerry Hurst of North Kansas City, Mo., caught 15 crappie that weighed 8.92 pounds and finished second.

Rodney Krus and Randy Krus of DeSoto caught the biggest crappie. It weighed 1.24 pounds.

The next tournament will be Oct. 3 at Pomona Lake. For information, call 785-234-8426.

Davis earns first

Kevin Davis of Lawrence won the Sunflower Bassmasters tournament on Sept. 12 at Clinton Lake. Jerry Benjamin of Lawrence was second. Phil Alterman of Lawrence caught the biggest bass.

DU fund-raiser Oct. 14

Ducks Unlimited will hold its annual fund-raiser on Oct. 14 at Lawrence Country Club. A 7 p.m. dinner will be followed by an auction. For information, call Paul Pendry at 841-0505. Saathoffs champs

Shawn Saathoff of Lawrence and Bob Saathoff of Topeka teamed to catch five largemouth bass that weighed 17.78 pounds and they handily won the Jackpot Buddy Tournament on Sept. 9 at Milford Lake.

Hillsdale winners

Don Cunnungham and Brian Vondra, both of Wellsville, caught one bass that weighed 4.76 pounds and won the Wednesday Night Bass Anglers tournament on Sept. 8 at Hillsdale Lake. Terry Heathman of Ottawa and Doug Montis of Wellsville finished second.
