* Recognition of visiting students from Eutin, Germany, a sister city of Lawrence.

  • Proclaim the week of Sept. 26-Oct. 3 as "Harvest of Arts Week."
  • Proclaim the 100th anniversary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
  • Review and approve minutes of various boards and commissions.
  • Approve claims.
  • Approve the following licenses recommended by the Department of Administrative Services, as conditioned: drinking establishment licenses for Z-Teca Fresh Mexican Grill, 743 Mass., King Arthur's, 2228 Iowa, and The Hawk, 1340 Ohio; cereal malt beverage licenses for Dillon Store, Raha Food Mart and College Catering.
  • Award bid for prime coat and double chip and seal for the Clinton Lake Roadway and Maintenance Facility to the low bidder, LRM Industries Inc., for $9,725.
  • Award bid for excavation work for the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center to the low bidder, Dunbar Excavating, for $107,600.
  • Award bid for a half-ton four-wheel drive pickup to Roberts Auto Plaza for $18,650.
  • Authorize the city manager to execute an agreement with GSI for $10,421 for geotechnical services for a southeast area sanitary sewer study.
  • Authorize the city manager to execute a change order with JF McGivern Inc., for the Kaw Water Plant Basin painting project for $52,376 for steel trough painting.
  • Authorize the city manager to execute an agreement with Landplan Engineering for the design of George Williams Way improvements for $70,300.
  • Approve proposal from LRM Industries for $51,928.70 for the 14th Court storm sewer improvements.
  • Approve proposal from LRM Industries for $41,461.25 for 14th Court sanitary sewer improvements.
  • Adopt on first reading an ordinance annexing about 81.038 acres on the west side of Kasold Drive, north of Peterson Road.
  • Adopt on first reading an ordinance annexing about 25.18 acres on the west side of Kasold Drive south of the Kansas Turnpike right of way.
  • Adopt on first reading an ordinance rezoning about 25.18 acres on the west side of Kasold Drive south of the Kansas Turnpike right of way from agricultural district to residence-duplex district.
  • Adopt on first reading an ordinance rezoning about 69.98 acres west of Kasold Drive, north of Peterson Road, from agricultural district and single-family residence district, all to single-family residence district.
  • Adopt on first reading an ordinance adopting the 1999 Standard Traffic Ordinance.
  • Adopt on second and final reading an ordinance re-instating parking along the west side of Louisiana, from 160 feet sout of 13th Street to 14th Street.
  • Adopt on second and final reading an ordinance establishing yield signs on 28th Terrace at Four Wheel Drive and at the Iowa Street frontage road.
  • Adopt on second and final reading an ordinance establishing system development charges as amended by the city commission on Sept. 7.
  • Consider adoption of an ordinance providing an electric franchise agreement to Kaw Valley Electric Cooperative.
  • Adopt a resolution authorizing the mayor and city clerk to execute a supplemental agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation for the KLINK overlay of Iowa Street from Yale to 19th. Previously the project extended to 23rd Street.
  • Adopt a resolution declaring 904 Penn. environmentally blighted, ordering the property to remove the blight within 20 days or the city will abate.
  • Approve an annexation request from Maly-Kansas Investment LLC for about 1.58 acres west of Monterey Way, south of Peterson Road, and authorize an ordinance to be drafted upon approval of a rezoning request.
  • Authorize staff to proceed with the purchase of 1529 Harper, owned by Gene Maas.
  • Consider a preliminary plan report concerning the proposed Lawrence Arts Center in the 900 block of New Hampshire.
  • Receive action request from Aviation Advisory Board concerning possible improvements at the Lawrence Airport.
  • Receive a request from Robert Santee concerning benefit district creation and requested city participation for the improvement of Parkside Road.
  • Receive a report from the Public Transit Advisory Committee concerning recommended public transit routes; consider approval of recommended public transit contract specifications for Request for Proposals; consider adoption of an ordinance establishing the Department of Public Transit; and consider adopting a resolution authorizing the mayor and city manager to submit federal grant applications and execute certifications and other appropriate documents.
  • Receive a request from Dial Property concerning the proposed annexation, rezoning and development of Inverness Addition, a proposed development generally bounded by Clinton Parkway, Crossgate, Inverness and West 27th Street.
