Most of the projects on the list have been on the airport's capital improvement plan for several years, but city officials have lacked either the resources or incentive to fund them.
Recently, AS&T Inc. announced that it plans to move a manufacturing facility out of Great Britain to the United States. Lawrence is among four sites in Kansas being considered for that move.
AS&T currently has a facility at the Lawrence Airport for marketing and installing airplane de-icing equipment. If Lawrence is chosen for the expansion, it could bring as many as 25 new jobs that pay an average $25,000 per year, company officials have said.
Airport officials also anticipate that the new NASCAR speedway under construction in Wyandotte County could add significant new air traffic to the Lawrence airport.
