Athens, Ga.- Georgia blanked Kansas, 3-0, in women's soccer on Friday. The Bulldogs, ranked 17th in the country and first in team defense, posting shutouts in all seven games this season, outshot the Jayhawks 29-6.

A crowd of 1,572 attended, the highest ever at a Kansas game.

Melanie Schroeder led the Jayhawks with two shots. Kylie Watts, Colleen Covin, Natalie Hoogveld and Lindsay Hunting all took one each. Georgia starting goalkeeper Nicole Williams leads the country with seven shutouts.

Christy Peavy came off the bench for the Bulldogs to score the game-winning goal in the 23rd minute when she followed a hard shot that bounced off Kansas goalkeeper Betsy Pollard. Sheila Gartman added another goal for Georgia in the 32nd minute assisted by Carolyn Cayard. Catherine Holder connected in the second half to cap the scoring.

Kansas starting goalkeeper, Betsy Pollard had 14 saves.

Kansas, 2-4, will travel to SW Missouri State Tuesday for a 4 p.m .contest.
