To the editor:
When people state, as Carl Burkhead did in his recent letter, that we should accept Biblical truth, it puzzles me that no one asks if he is serious or suggests he is making fun of other people's religion. When FLAT cites a specific Biblical truth to be accepted (the value of pi is just one of many), we are said to have our tongues planted in our cheeks and are accused by Ms. Holloway, the chair of the Kansas State Board of Education, and others, of mocking religious beliefs.
Is God's truth good in general and ridiculous in particular? Which way is it? Do we want the Bible's inerrant guidance in these matters or do we not?
Philip Kimball, treasurer
FLAT, Lawrence.
