VIRGINIA ELLEN SHOBE
Graveside services for Virginia Ellen Shobe, 79, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Shobe died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at her home.
She was born Jan. 18, 1920, in Miami, Okla., the daughter of Chester and Bertha (Newman) Connett.
Mrs. Shobe had been a cook in many downtown Lawrence restaurants.
Survivors include her husband, Joe W. Shobe, of the home; a daughter, Barbara Ellen Haller, Lawrence; two sons, John and James Haller, both of Lawrence; three stepchildren; a brother, Jim Connett, Lawrence; three sisters, Madeline Norris and Norma Gunn, both of Lawrence, and Mary Bailey, Tempe, Ariz.; six grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Humane Society or Hospice Care of Douglas County, and they may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
