Julie Mulvihill has been hired as director of education/programming manager at the Lied Center. She replaces Lane Czaplinski, who became program manager in July at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City.

Mulvihill comes to the Lied Center from her position as education coordinator for the Kansas State Historical Society, where she developed educational programs and special events for the Kansas History Center. Prior to that job, she was curator of education at the Johnson County Museums.

A 1992 Kansas University graduate, she taught seventh-grade geography and eighth-grade English and American history at South and West junior high schools.

At the Lied Center, Mulvihill will serve as curriculum writer for the center's programs for children and adults; coordinate educational activities, such as master classes and workshops; and create educational materials. She will serve as a liaison for the school district and work with the Lawrence Business Education Partnership and Adventures in Imagination Committee. She also will assist with programming research and event negotiations.
