Police arrest a man after he walks through women's apartment naked.
An early Saturday morning arrest may have put the wraps on the so-called Oread Flasher.
Lawrence police arrested a 19-year-old man and booked him on charges Saturday of aggravated burglary, attempted sexual battery, and lewd and lascivious behavior.
He was arrested near 13th and Tennessee streets at 2:45 a.m. Saturday after a report of a nude man in an apartment where three women reside in the 1200 block of Tennessee Street.
"We believe he is involved in similar crimes in the area," said Sgt. Richard Nickell, a police spokesman. "We believe that because of the similarity of this crime and the others, and his description."
Early Saturday morning, one of the residents in the apartment in the 1200 block of Tennessee woke up and saw a naked man walking into the bedroom of one of her roommates, Nickell said.
The woman followed the man, whom she saw kneeling by her roommate's bed. She confronted him and began yelling. He ran from the house. One of the women called police.
Nickell said police surrounded the area and began searching for the suspect. When they caught him he was wearing a T-shirt and shorts.
Nickell said "good police work" led officers to the suspected culprit.
The man was in the Douglas County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond.
During the summer, several women in the Oread neighborhood reported seeing a nude man walking on the street or fondling himself. All of the women gave similar descriptions.
