DOROTHY B. WESTERVELT
Manhattan -- Services for Dorothy B. Westervelt, 63, rural Manhattan, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Keats United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan.
Mrs. Westervelt died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Mercy Health Center-College Avenue, Manhattan, of cancer.
She was born July 5, 1936, near Burden, the daughter of William and Donna (Bolack) Fox. She graduated from Kansas State University in 1958.
Mrs. Westervelt taught grade school in rural Geary County and Little Rock, Ark., before co-owning the Blueville Nursery, Manhattan, with her husband. She was a member of Keats United Methodist Church, was active in 4-H, and coached the Riley County Horticulture Judging Team.
She married Darrell Westervelt on June 6, 1958. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Keith Westervelt, Manhattan, and Glen Westervelt, Lawrence; three sisters, Frances Lawrence, Ponca City, Okla., Gladys Roth, Clearwater, and Illene Scheffee, Burden; and three grandchildren.
A son, Mark Rodney Westervelt, died earlier.
Friends may call today at the Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home, Riley, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today.
The family suggests memorials to the Mark Rodney Westervelt Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Keats United Methodist Church, and they may be sent in care of the Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 176, Riley 66531.
