This lovely, outgoing young lady has a lot going for her.

Thirteen-year-old Mariel is very much a typical young teen. She loves to shop, and she talks freely about the latest styles and music.

Mariel enjoys hanging out with friends her age, even though, she is decidedly more mature and independent than most 13-year-old girls. She relates to friends and acquaintances in an honest, no-nonsense way that endears her to most. She communicates what she needs and wants very clearly. She is polite and respectful when meeting new people. Mariel describes herself as playful and loyal.

Mariel is aware that she needs boundaries and structure in her life. Mariel says it is important that her family give her guidance and good advice. "I wouldn't want to have learn from all of my own mistakes." She wants a family who will give her attention and support her both physically and emotionally.

Mariel needs a home where she feels loved and important. Structure, consistency and some rules give her a sense of security. She said she will accept a curfew and other rules, if she knows her family cares about her. The ideal parents for Mariel will be familiar with teen issues and sensitive to a young girl's special emotional needs.

Mariel is comfortable in an urban environment. She will thrive in a community where she is able to participate in a variety of activities, such as volleyball, basketball, shopping, concerts and movies.
