Baldwin postpones
electrical test
Baldwin officials postponed an electrical test until 2 a.m. Sept. 23, because one of the participants had to attend a funeral.
The test, which had been scheduled for Friday, is to help ensure that an extended power outage like one that struck the town Sept. 4 doesn't happen again, said Larry Paine, city administrator.
After a storm disconnected the electrical feed to the city, an automatic switch didn't reset itself. Consequently, when the feed was restored, most of the city didn't get its power back, Paine said.
The test will synchronize the outside power source with the city's own power plant so there won't be problems in the future.
