7:57 -- Mitch Bowles 8 run. Jayhawks held Matadors to minus-two yards on first possession and forced punt. Kansas went 71 yards in four plays -- a two-yard Bowles run, a 42-yard pass from Zac Wegner to Termaine Fulton, a 19-yard run by Winbush and Bowles' TD run. Garcia kick. (Kansas 10, Northridge 0).
1:20 -- HenrÃ- Childs 72 punt return. Kansas had to punt away its third possession, but immediately held CSN to a three-and-out series. Childs fielded punt on 28, raced to protection thanks to big blocks by Chad Coellner and Carl Nesmith, then tightroped right sideline to run virtually untouched final 30 yards. Garcia kick. Second Quarter
11:25 -- Childs 27 pass from Dylen Smith. After another three-and-out possession by the Matadors, Kansas took over on own 38 and went 62 yards in seven plays. Big gainers were 25-yard pass from Smith to fullback Tyrus Fontenot -- his first career catch -- and Childs' TD, where he caught seam inside, got step on defender and cruised to first career TD reception. 5:19 -- Garcia 31 FG. Kansas forced another three-and-out possession and CSN attempted fake punt that would have given Matadors first down, but it was called back by ineligible receiver downfield. CSN punted away, and Kansas took over on own 48. Jayhawks went 38 yards in nine plays before stalling. Smith actually connected with David Winbush on 11-yard TD pass, but it was called back by facemask penalty on KU. (Kansas 27, Northridge 0).
2:25 -- Marcus Brady 8 run. Immediately after Garcia's 31-yard field goal, CSN gained possession on own 13 and smartly marched 87 yards in 10 plays. Big gainer was 38-yard pass from Brady to Aaron Arnold. On TD, Northridge spread field with five wide receivers, but all were covered, so Brady ran in untouched. Derek Brown kick. (Kansas 27, Northridge 7).
:50 -- Winbush 29 pass from Smith. After CSN score, Kansas took over on own 31 and went 69 yards in eight plays. Winbush had three big gainers in drive -- catches of 19, 12 and 29 yards, but 19-yarder was voided by personal foul on Jayhawks. On TD, Winbush took screen at about 27-yard line, raced untouched to the five, then faked Rahman Sparks off his feet for Winbush's first career TD reception. Garcia kick. (Kansas 34, Northridge 7).
Third Quarter
11:02 -- Drew Amerson 12 pass from Brady. Matadors took first possession of second half and wasted no time -- just under four minutes -- to go 80 yards in nine plays. CSN faced just two third downs and converted both. Big gainer was 28-yard run by Jaumal Bradley on first-and-10 from CSN 45. Brown kick. (Kansas 34, Northridge 14).
8:53 -- Safety, Brady tackled by Tim Bowers in end zone. After failing to gain a first down in its first second-half possession, Kansas punted away. Thanks to 55-yard boot by Joey Pelfanio and timely tackle for three-yard loss on return by Chad Coellner, CSN faced first-and-10 from own nine. There, Bowers bolted through hole in line untouched for safety. (Kansas 36, Northridge 14).
7:07 -- Winbush 15 run. Kansas took kick after safety and had possession on 35. Drive covered just four plays. On first down, Bowles gained three yards on a rush. On second, Winbush went 32 yards before Steve Forte made TD-saving diving tackle. On third, Bowles rushed for 15. On fourth play, Winbush went left, stiff-armed way out of tackle on corner and raced untouched into end zone. Garcia kick. (Kansas 43, Northridge 14).
3:34 -- Bowles 14 run. Kansas took possession when defensive lineman Dion Rayford intercepted Brady on KU 39. Kansas covered 61 yards in seven plays. Kansas has four plays of 11 yards or more -- a 19-yard pass from Smith to Sean McDermott, an 11-yard run by Bowles, an 11-yard pass from Smith to Michael Chandler and Bowles' weaving TD run. 3:07 -- Chandler 6 pass from Smith. On first play after Bowles' TD run, Muhammad Abdul-Rahim stepped in front of Brady pass at Kansas 35 and returned it to the CSN 6, where, on first down, Smith lofted nice touch pass to Chandler. Garcia kick. (Kansas 57, Northridge 14).
Fourth Quarter
11:32 -- Fontenot 2 run. After forcing another three-and-out possession, Kansas took over on own 38 and went 62 yards in 10 plays. Big gainers were 11-yard pass from Jonas Weatherbie to Fontenot and 24-yard run by Childs. Fontenot scored his first career TD by bulling in from 2 on third-and-goal. Brian Tracy kick. 9:17 -- Matt Jordan 1 run. On third play of CSN possession, Kansas' Brandon Wier made his first career interception when he stepped in front of a Josh Fiske pass and returned it 30 yards to Northridge three-yard-line. Jordan, a former defensive back, gained all three yards of short series. Tracy kick. (Kansas 71, Northridge 14).
