KANU is on top of the heap again.

The public radio station licensed to Kansas University, KANU-FM 91.5, was named the Non-Commercial Radio Station of the Year by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters for the fourth year in a row.

"We are very honored to have earned this prestigious award once again from the KAB," said Janet Campbell, station general manager.

Station of the Year isn't the only award KANU will bring home from the KAB convention in early October in Manhattan.

The station also won three first-place awards, three second-place awards and two honorable mentions in public affairs programming, single topic news event, editorial or commentary, best newscast, feature story, and promotional announcement categories.

"We're very pleased," said Darrell Brogdon, the station program director. "... The news department, especially, should be really proud of the work they've done this year."

This year's competition was judged by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Assn. The Station of the Year award is based on other awards won by the station in the annual competition.
