Buddy and Creta Ann Bowles
Buddy and Creta Ann Bowles, Topeka, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their family from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. next Saturday at Lake Shawnee, shelter house No. 6.
Buddy and Creta Ann were married Sept. 18, 1949, at First United Methodist Church, Atwood. The couple moved to Lawrence in 1962, and lived here about 15 years. They have lived in Topeka for 25 years.
Mr. Bowles retired in 1992 from the State of Kansas where he was employed as a central accountant. Mrs. Bowles also retired in 1992 from Southwestern Bell Telephone, where she was employed as a service representative.
The couple have three children, Steve Bowles, Kansas City, Judi Wolfe, Lawrence, and Lana Rae Stagner, Grapevine, Tex. They also have four grandchildren.
The couple request no gifts.
Dean and Johanna Kirkman
Dean and Johanna Kirkman, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. next Saturday at First Baptist Church, 1330 Kasold.
The couple were married Sept. 18, 1949, at Linwood Methodist Church, Linwood.
Mr. Kirkman retired in 1988 from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for 35 years as a rural letter carrier in the Linwood area. Mrs. Kirkman retired in 1989 from the Basehor-Linwood school district where she worked as a library aide at Linwood Elementary School.
The couple have a daughter, Deana Bowen, Lawrence. They also have two grandchildren.
