Another of Lawrence's most wanted is in custody.
Los Angeles police arrested Michael B. Basquine, 34, Topeka, Friday morning in Los Angeles, said Officer Dave Anderson, coordinator of Crime Stoppers of Lawrence & Douglas County.
"They were acting on leads provided by our detectives," he said, though not on a Crime Stoppers tip.
Basquine was one of two wanted men featured by Crime Stoppers in May. Crime Stoppers' most wanted program profiles criminals or suspects each month, offering an instant $100 cash reward for information leading to their arrests.
"We either get them captured in short order or they leave town," Anderson said.
Since the program started in August of 1998, 22 of the 26 people featured have been arrested, though not all arrests were due to Crime Stoppers tips.
Basquine is one of two suspects in the May 6 holdup of Alvin's IGA, Ninth and Iowa. The LAPD arrested him on a Douglas County warrant.
Crime Stoppers, (785) 843-TIPS, offers rewards for information about felonies that leads to arrests. Callers may remain anonymous; Crime Stoppers doesn't record calls or subscribe to Caller ID.
