THE AUG. 9 MEETING of the Lone Star 4-H club was called to order by Lori Lemesany, president. Roll call was answered by naming your favorite pie. Two workshops are being held to help with filling out record books. 4-H members were reminded to write thank you notes to award sponsors and livestock buyers. The program included talks about the electric and woodworking projects and a parliamentary procedure. Hosts were the Biggerstaff, Jason Flory, Lemesany and Moszeter families.
STULL BUSY BEAVERS 4-H Club met Aug. 9. At this time, it was announced that all record books would be due at the next meeting. KAA screening will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 6 and volunteers are needed. It was announced that the Kanza 4-H Club will be dissolving because of lack of members. The club voted to invite those Kanza members still interested in 4-H to join the Stull Busy Beavers 4-H club. Matie Grubham gave a project talk, and Jake Hetrick and Brady and Matt Roberts gave talks about camp experiences. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Stull United Methodist Church.
OAK RIDGE FCE CLUB will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Mary Ross. June Bireta will give a lesson on herbal remedies.
KANWAKA FCE will meet at the home of Mary Czuper at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Aliene Bieber will be co-hostess. For the program, Charlene Winter will share her experience at the FCE National Conference in Hawaii.
THE STULL FCE will not meet on its regular September meeting date. The club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Douglas County extension office. The program is Bone Bank: deposits and withdrawals. The group then will eat lunch at a restaurant. Pat Solbach is hostess.
THE 1999 Educational Bus Tour to Abilene will be from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 29, sponsored by the FCE Council. The guided tour will include Lebold-Vahsholtz Victorian Mansion, lunch at Mr. K Farm House Restaurant, Greyhound Hall of Fame, Riggin Greyhound Farm, Vintage Fashion Museum, Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, Museum of Independent Telephony, Antique Doll Museum and an 18-mile excursion aboard the Abilene and Smoky Valley railroad with dinner served by Genny's Country Cupboard. The bus tour will depart from and return to the Douglas County Extension Center. For information call Alice Eisele, 843-7515.
