Two people are in serious condition following a stabbing incident in Ottawa.

Ottawa -- A Georgia man working at an Ottawa construction site got into a fight at a bar, and then cut and stabbed three Ottawa residents with a pocketknife, police say.

Eric A. Williams, 30, of Yatesville, Ga., remained in the Franklin County Jail on Thursday night while prosecutors prepared charges.

Police arrested him about 12:30 a.m. Thursday following the altercation outside the Walkman Club, near Ottawa city hall in downtown Ottawa.

Ottawa Police Chief Jeff Herrman said Williams and other patrons of the bar became involved in an argument, possibly about the girlfriend of one of the patrons. The fight moved outside and escalated with Williams and a friend from Georgia against numerous others, the chief said.

"Basically, it was two people fighting against the rest of the crowd, and there were bystanders and onlookers," Herrman said. "We don't have an accurate number."

Williams allegedly pulled a pocketknife, and began cutting and stabbing. Cecil Porter Jr., 17, Jason Glidwell and Faustino Caulderon were injured. Herrman said Caulderon and Porter were flown to Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., with life-threatening injuries. They were in serious condition there Thursday night. Herrman said they had chest and abdomen wounds.

Glidwell was treated and released from Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Herrman didn't know the ages of Glidwell or Caulderon, but he said they are adults.

Franklin County Sheriff's deputies responding to the call spotted Williams' vehicle as he pulled into the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express where he's been living. Herrman said he and the other man involved in the fight are working on a construction project for Wal-Mart in Ottawa. Authorities recovered the knife at the hotel, Herrman said.

Williams, who was battered during the fight, was treated for minor cuts and bruises at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa before being booked into the jail for aggravated battery. He was held without bond Thursday, but should appear before a judge today.

"We are not looking for any additional suspects in the matter, but there may be additional witnesses," Herrman said.

Herrman said no alcohol tests were done on the suspect or the victims, including the minor.

"They were in a bar; I don't know if they were drunk or not," he said. "We were much more worried about saving their lives."
