Should backpacks be banned from junior high classrooms?
Stefanie Tracy,
KU student,
Lawrence
"No, I don't think so. I think you should have the right to use them and not have to use see-through backpacks and deal with privacy issues."
Nick Frederickson,
salesman,
Eudora
"Absolutely not. People have to have a way to carry their stuff from class to class. They don't give them enough time between classes to get where they need to go."
Rick Woodhead,
auditor,
Lawrence
"I don't think so. They're a good way to carry stuff and they keep them organized."
Amy Lowe,
teacher,
Eudora
"Yeah, I think so for safety reasons. It's too easy for kids to bring in stuff in their backpacks, and it's too easy for them to bring in things besides weapons, like food and candy, that keep them off task."
