KU professor to discuss
butterflies on TV
Orley R. "Chip" Taylor, an insect ecologist in the department of entomology at Kansas University and director of Monarch Watch, will detail the monarch butterfly's annual migration on KTWU, Channel 11.
"The Monarch: A Butterfly Beyond Borders," will air at 7 p.m. Tuesday, and a live segment featuring Taylor will follow the program.
The program follows the journey of the butterflies as they travel more than 2,400 miles from Canada to a patch of forest deep in the mountains of Mexico. The climate of this particular habitat offers the precise humidity and temperature the monarchs need to survive the winter.
