The public will have an opportunity to comment Thursday and Monday on proposed routes for the city's new bus system.
Thursday's hearing will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 E. 15th. Monday's hearing will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Union Pacific Depot, 402 N. Second.
Originally, the hearings had been planned from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night, but city officials said they decided to extend the hours to accommodate the schedules of more people.
City staff, members of the Lawrence Public Transit Advisory Committee and representatives from K.A. Associates, the private consulting firm helping to design the system, will be at the hearings to gather information and answer questions.
K.A. Associates has drafted a network of seven proposed routes. Maps of the proposed routes will be on display at the public hearings.
City manager Mike Wildgen said people can come anytime between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. to review the routes and provide comment.
People unable to attend the meetings can send written comments to Aaron Bartlett, city transportation planner, Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Department, City Hall, P.O. Box 708, Lawrence 66044.
