Independence, Mo. -- Services for Anna Luella Hayes, 65, Independence, were held Saturday at Birchwood Baptist Church. Burial was in Eudora, Kan., City Cemetery.

Mrs. Hayes died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at her home.

She was born Nov. 17, 1933, in Lawrence, Kan., the daughter of Raymond E. and Fern (Kasson) Long. She graduated from Eudora High School in 1952.

Mrs. Hayes had worked at Butler Manufacturing, General Electric Credit Corp., Commerce Bank and was a medical assistant, before she retired in 1994. In retirement, she taught preschool at Sterling Acres Day Care.

She was a charter member of Pilot Club of Independence, and was also a member of Birchwood Baptist Church and three Westmoreland Glass collectors clubs.

She married Duane L. Hayes on Dec. 30, 1956. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Barbara Rowe, Kansas City, Mo., and Mary Boyd, Ashburn Farm, Va.; a son, David Hayes, Kansas City, Mo.; her mother, Eudora; a sister, Mary Beem, Eudora; two brothers, John Long, San Antonio, and William Long, Hobe Sound, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to "Miss Ann's Place" at Birchwood Baptist Church, Cancer Action or Kansas City Hospice, and they may be sent in care of the Cremation and Burial Society of Kansas, 3100 S. 24th St., Kansas City, Kan. 66106.
