Law enforcement report

Injury accidents

  • A 16-year-old Lawrence resident suffered minor injuries when her vehicle left the Kansas Turnpike east of Topeka and rolled in a ditch, turnpike officials said. Laurna Strikwerda's Toyota four-door was heading east toward Lawrence at 7:20 p.m. Monday when it struck a reflector pole just before the Topeka rest area, crossed both lanes of traffic and entered the ditch along the south side of the turnpike, where it rolled and came to rest on its top. Strikwerda was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released after being seen for head, face, neck, shoulder and back injuries.

  • Joshua Longhat, Zuni, N.M., was in fair condition Monday at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., where he is recovering from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Aug. 29.
  • Kerry Jymm, 21, Gallup, N.M., was in critical condition Monday at KUMC, where he is recovering from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Aug. 29.
  • Clint Wahquahboshuk, 23, Mayetta, was in critical condition Monday at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, where he is recovering from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Aug. 29.
  • Kylee Stalkfleet, 15, Oskaloosa, was in fair condition Monday at KUMC, where she is recovering from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Aug. 20.
  • Kim A. Groenhagen, 35, McLouth, was upgraded to serious condition Monday at KUMC, where he is recovering from burn injuries sustained in a July 30 fire at Heetco Inc. Groenhagen had been listed in critical condition Sunday.
  • Dan Blomgren, Lawrence, was in serious condition Monday at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, where he is recovering from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Wednesday.
