home of Stevenson

DeShawn Stevenson, a 6-foot-5 guard from Fresno, Calif., has decided to welcome coaches from nine schools into his home to hear their recruiting pitches.

Coaches from Kansas, San Diego State, Fresno State, UCLA, Georgia, UConn, Missouri, Stanford and Kentucky will visit Stevenson's home, his high school coach told Southern California Hoops.

KU soccer team

stops Weber State

Ogden, Utah -- Kansas University's soccer team blanked Weber State, 3-0, on Sunday at P.E. Playfield. KU goalkeeper Betsy Pollard recorded the shutout.

"It was ugly as sin, but we won," Kansas head coach Mark Francis said. "The field was a nightmare. It was all wet and muddy, but we did well with our chances this time. We only took 11 shots, but scored three, so you have got to like that ratio. To not play well and come away with a win will work for us."

Kansas broke the game open early in the match when midfielder Katie Lents connected with a ball from freshman Brianna Valento for a score 93 seconds into the game.

Meghann Haven, who leads the team with three assists, found senior midfielder Melissa Downing for Downing's second goal of the season in the 62nd minute. Eight minutes later, Kansas added another goal from forward Melanie Schroeder.

Schroeder, a sophomore from Stillwater, Minn., has two goals this season and was assisted by Colleen Colvin.

Starting goalkeeper Betsy Pollard earned her first career shutout with eight saves. The senior co-captain from Sioux City, Iowa lowered her goals-against average to 1.23 for the season.

Kansas, 2-2, travels to Missouri Friday.
