SYNNEVA C. STETTLER

A private graveside service for Synneva C. Stettler, 74, Lawrence, will be held on Tuesday at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Stettler died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

She was born Nov. 24, 1925, in Aberdeen, S.D., the daughter of Henry A. and Minnie (Essie) Onsgard.

Mrs. Stettler was a graduate of Wichita State University and earned her master's degree from the University of Illinois.

She attended Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence and was a member of Sorosis Sorority of Wichita and PEO of Lawrence.

She married Howard F. Stettler on Sept. 4, 1950, in Wichita. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, John Stettler, Dallas; two daughters, Sandra Synneva Stettler, Houston, and Dianne Stettler Lemmon, San Antonio, Tex.; and three grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. or Meals on Wheels, and they may be sent in care of the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

RICHARD D. MOORE

Memorial services for Richard D. Moore, 57, Lawrence, are pending and will be announced by Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. He donated his body to the Kansas University Medical Center.

Mr. Moore died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at his home.

He was born Aug. 6, 1942, in Horton, the son of Bruce and Gladys Moore. He graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1960 and from Benedictine College in 1977.

Mr. Moore had worked at Reuter Organ Company until retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Olathe Civic Band, New Horizons Band, Lawrence Civic Choir, Home Harmony and was a substitute with the Jazzhaus Band. He was also a volunteer usher at the Lied Center.

Survivors include his wife, Janice, of the home; a daughter, Heather Mathis, Houston; and a sister, Mary Jane Sullivan, Kalamazoo, Mich.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County, and they may be sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

KATHRYN JO CHANDLER

Topeka -- Services for Kathryn Jo Chandler, 47, Olathe, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka.

Mrs. Chandler died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at an Olathe hospital.

She was born Oct. 30, 1951, in Clay Center, the daughter of Warren Dean and JoAnn (Hannan) Sharp.

She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1969 and received a nursing degree from Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa, in 1973.

Mrs. Chandler had been a registered nurse at Bethany Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., and Beverly Health Care Center, Spring Hill. She was a member of the RLDS Church, Olathe.

She married Robert L. Chandler on July 22, 1972, in Topeka. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Christopher S. Chandler and Robert L. Chandler Jr., both of Belton, Mo., and Mike S. Chandler, Lawrence; her parents, Holton; a daughter, Kellie Chandler, Belton, Mo.; a sister, Arlene Cathey, Kansas City, Kan.; and two brothers, Gary Sharp, Overbrook, and David Sharp, Tulsa, Okla.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to the National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri, 1900 W. 47th Place, Suite 107, Westwood 66205.

LELAND A. "DICK"

GROTEWOHL

Topeka -- Graveside services for Leland A. "Dick" Grotewohl, 95, Topeka, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.

Mr. Grotewohl died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at a Topeka hospital.

He was born Jan. 21, 1904, in Topeka, the son of Warner and Edith (Harr) Grotewohl, and graduated from Topeka High School in 1922.

Mr. Grotewohl was commissioner of taxes and insurance systems for the city of Chicago before retiring in 1968. He also worked for several years at Security Benefit Assn. He had been a tax investigator with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.

He was a member of the Rotary Club and the Prestwick Country Club in Chicago and was on board of directors of the Civic Federation of Chicago.

He married Mildred P. Grotewohl Feb. 28, 1923. She died in 1993.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara J. Olson, Topeka; one son, Jack L., Lawrence; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Topeka Rescue Mission and they can be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka 66608.

SHIRLEY ANN KELLY

Wellsville --Services for Shirley Ann Kelly, 69, Wellsville, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wilson and Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wellsville Cemetery.

Mrs. Kelly died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at the Baldwin Care Center, Baldwin.

She was born Dec. 5, 1929, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Talbot.

Mrs. Kelly worked at Gardner Hospital as a switchboard operator and was a member of Wellsville United Methodist Church.

She married Galen Kelly on June 6, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo. He died in 1997. A son, Tom Kelly, also died earlier.

Survivors include three sons, Kevin Kelly, Wellsville, David Kelly, Houston, and Jeffrey Kelly, Parker, Colo.; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the Baldwin Care Center, and they may be sent in care of Wilson and Son Funeral Home, P.O. Box 486, Wellsville 66092.
