Was there a head-on collision July 4 out by the new jail? If so, were any citations issued?

Yes, there was a two-car wreck about 2 a.m. on July 4, according to Douglas County Sheriff Loren Anderson. It happened near the intersection of North 1300 and East 1700 roads.

One driver, Dwight Byers, was arrested for driving under the influence, no proof of insurance, no registration and no lights.

The driver of the other vehicle, Mark Hadl, was cited for failure to report an accident.

Each vehicle carried one passenger. Three people went by private vehicle to the hospital for treatment of injuries and were later released.

I'm calling about the construction trailer in the 4400 block of West 25th Place. It's been in the street for about three or four months with no license and a flat tire. I'm wondering how long it can stay in the street and whether it's legal.

Such placement of a trailer is against the law, City Manager Mike Wildgen said.

"The owner has been notified to remove the trailer," Wildgen said. "Lee Smith (the city's site plan and zoning enforcement officer) will monitor the response."
