Marilyn and

Harlan Sweeten

Marilyn and Harlan Sweeten, Lawrence, recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a small reception and family gathering hosted by family members at their home.

The couple were married Aug. 21, 1959, in Tonganoxie.

Mrs. Sweeten is retired from Watkins Student Health Center at Kansas University. Mr. Sweeten is employed by Patchen Electric Co., Lawrence.

The couple have two daughters, Rosana Sweeten, Salina, and Donna Raymond, Minneapolis, Minn. They also have two grandchildren.

Charles and

Erma Worley

Charles and Erma Worley, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. next Saturday at Central United Methodist Church, 1501 Mass.

Hosts will be their children, Michael and Kathie Worley and Sherry and Wesley Ellison, four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Charles Worley and Erma Wulfkuhle were married Sept. 11, 1949, at Central United Methodist Church. Mr. Worley retired as corrugator supervisor at Lawrence Paper Co. Mrs. Worley is retired from nursing.

The couple request no gifts.

Thomas and

Michele Garcia

Thomas and Michele Garcia celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last Saturday with a family gathering at the Victorian Veranda Country Inn. The couple were married Sept. 10, 1949, at St. John's Catholic Church in Lawrence.

The couple met in France during World War II when Mr. Garcia served in the 75th Infantry Division. Mr. Garcia worked for Lawrence school district and retired after 21 years of service. Mrs. Garcia was born in Paris and worked for Hallmark Cards in Lawrence. She retired after 21 years of service.

The couple have four children: Francine and Leo Gonzalez, Topeka; Dolores and Steve Ortiz, Lawrence; Thomas and Danielle Garcia III, Lawrence; and Yvonne and Alan Garcia, Lawrence. The couple also have seven grandchildren.

Mildred L. and

Richard Myrle Hogan

Mildred L. and Richard Myrle "Ben" Hogan, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 at Building No. 2 of the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds.

The couple were married on Sept. 10, 1949, in Lawrence.

Both attended Lawrence High School. Mrs. Hogan then attended nursing training at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno, Nev., and became a licensed practical nurse. Mr. Hogan served 22 years in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1969. While in the Army, he attended flight school and served as an aviator.

The couple travel many months out of each year.

The couple have two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Dix, Victor, Colo., and Virginia Lee Hogan, Lawrence. They also have three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The couple request no gifts.
