Liquor store owner
injured in accident
The owner of the two Lawrence Cork & Barrel liquor stores is in serious condition after a Wednesday night accident.
The Kansas Highway Patrol trooper investigating the accident hadn't filed a report by Thursday evening, and he was unavailable for comment. But KHP dispatcher said Dan Blomgren was alone at 8 p.m. Wednesday when his vehicle left Kansas Highway 10 near the Cedar Creek exit in Johnson County, and rolled. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, the dispatcher said.
Jeff Simons, a manager at the Cork & Barrel at 2000 W. 23rd St., said Blomgren was returning to Lawrence from Kansas City when the accident happened.
"We're just concerned for his well-being and wish him a quick recovery, and the safety of his family," Simons said.
Besides the 23rd Street store, Blomgren has a store in the Parkway Shopping Center at Clinton Parkway and Kasold.
