S HEADLINE SPIRITFEST

— The 1999 Kansas City SpiritFest will be held Friday through Sunday at the Liberty Memorial in Penn Valley Park, 26th and Main.

The festival will feature three stages of musical acts, an arts and crafts fair, food vendors, children's activities and a Wind Wizards demonstration.

The musical lineup includes:

  • Friday -- Wayne Toups & Zydecajun, 6:30 p.m., Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, 8:30 p.m., Buckwheat Zydeco, 10:30 p.m., East Main Stage; Retro Rockets, 6:30 p.m., Men at Work, 8:30 p.m., Rick Springfield, 10:30 p.m., North Main Stage; Creature Comforts, 6 p.m., Janice Figure, 6:45 p.m., Boom Boom Satellites, 7:45 p.m., Moby, 9 p.m., The Violent Femmes, 10:30 p.m., Rock Stage.
  • Saturday -- Deep Blue Something, 4:30 p.m., A Flock of Seagulls, 6:30 p.m., East Main Stage; Wang Chung, 8:30 p.m., The Smithereens, 10:30 p.m., East Main Stage; Disco Dick and The Mirror Balls, 4:30 p.m., The Ohio Players, 6:30 p.m., WAR, 8:30 p.m., KC and the Sunshine Band, 10:30 p.m., North Main Stage; The Feds, 4 p.m., 8 Degrees, 4:45 p.m., Drag Queen, 5:30 p.m., Ultimate Fakebook, 6:15 p.m., Outhouse, 7:15 p.m., Marvelous 3, 8:30 p.m., Gravity Kills, 10:15 p.m., Rock Stage.

Hours are from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday and 4 p.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday. Tickets will be available at the gate.
