Westminster Inn robbed
Lawrence police are searching for two men who robbed the Westminster Inn, 2525 W. Sixth, early Tuesday.
Sgt. George Wheeler said a 29-year-old clerk, who was working at the hotel, was struck by an object at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday. The clerk said the object may have been a gun.
Police said the suspects are both black men who fled on foot.
One of the suspects is described as 17 to 20 years old, 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-10 and about 150 pounds. The clerk said the man was wearing a red long-sleeved sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, black leather gloves and a dark-colored ski mask or bandanna to hide his face.
The second man is described as in his 20s, 5-feet-10 inches to 6 feet and about 180 pounds. He was wearing a long-sleeved blue sweatshirt, dark pants, black leather gloves and a dark mask or bandanna.
The men came in the front door of the hotel's office, Wheeler said. Police would not disclose how much money was stolen.
Apartment heist nets
prescription drugs
Three men allegedly stole prescription drugs early Monday from an apartment in a home in the 900 block of Indiana, Lawrence police said.
A report said the men tried to rob a 29-year-old Lawrence woman who woke up about 4:10 a.m. Monday. She told the men she didn't have any money, Sgt. George Wheeler said.
A second tenant of the home, which is divided into apartments, told police he was missing three prescription drugs. The 32-year-old man estimated his loss at $35.
The suspects were last seen heading south on foot, Wheeler said.
Police described the suspects as:
- A white male, 16 to 20 years old, about 6 feet tall, about 220 pounds with brown hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, tan shorts and white tennis shoes.
- A white male, 16 to 20 years old.
- A black male, 16 to 20 years old, about 6-feet-2, about 135 pounds. He was wearing a blue bandanna on his head and face, beige pants and a white T-shirt. The woman said he was armed with a handgun.
