LLOYD E. POWELL

Services for Lloyd E. Powell, 81, Oskaloosa, formerly of Meriden, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence. Private inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton.

Mr. Powell died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Hickory Pointe Care and Rehabilitation Center, Oskaloosa.

He was born Jan. 11, 1918, at Brahman, Okla., the son of George Cleveland and Mary Minerva (Olds) Powell.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945.

Mr. Powell moved in 1960 to California, where he worked for Pacific Theaters, retiring in 1988. He moved to Meriden in 1993.

He married Ethel Mae Taylor on Sept. 23, 1944, in Benton, Ark. She died Aug. 7, 1989.

A son, Thomas, died on Jan. 31, 1999.

Survivors include three daughters, Pat Whitesock, Meriden, Debra Schissler, Athel, Idaho, and Carolyn Evans, Buena Park, Calif.; a brother, Dale, Petersburg, Va.; two sisters, Marge Morris, Topeka, and Dorothy Woods, Mayetta; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Monday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
