Graveside services for Cora "Bernice" Mitchell, 89, Overbrook, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Mitchell died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Brookside Manor, Overbrook.

She was born April 28, 1910, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Clive Grover and Carrie Bell (Rothwell) Godfrey.

Mrs. Mitchell worked for Lawrence Laundry and Dry Cleaners, Kansas University Concessions and Lakeview Club House. She was the club leader of the Meadowlark 4-H club. She was a past member of Lakeview Home Demonstration Unit, and a member of Farmer's Co-op and the Overbrook United Methodist Church.

She married Chester William Mitchell on May 20, 1929, in Lawrence. He died March 10, 1990.

Survivors include two sons, Chester "Bill" and Allen A. Mitchell, both Overbrook; three daughters, Barbara Davis, Moore, Okla., and Pearl Harman and Delores Statler, both of Lawrence; a brother, Grover Godfrey, Alpine, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Jeanette Mitchell, died earlier.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, and they may be sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
