Kansas University set a school record for women's soccer victories with a 2-1 victory over Oklahoma Sunday at SuperTarget Field.
KU midfielder chipped a shot over OU goalkeeper Jana Cunningham in the 17th minute following an assist from Hilla Rantala. In the 66th minute, Natalie Hoogveld extended the Jayhawks' lead to 2-0. She was assisted by Rantala and Colleen Colvin.
"All conference opponents are tough," said KU coach Mark Francis, whose Jayhawks improved to 8-5 overall and 3-3 in the Big 12. "They battle physically. We expect that in a conference game. We are not afraid of that. I felt that we dominated the ball and the play, especially offensively. In the end it was a test of character. It was hot and we had to sub more than normal. It took 17 to 18 people to get the job done."
OU (2-10-1, 1-5-1) scored its lone goal in the 80th minute.
Goalie Laura Rhode, normally a backup, collected five saves.
KU will play Friday at No. 4 Nebraska.
