Alexander leads

NAIA in offense

Ottawa -- Ottawa U. quarterback Jay Alexander leads the NAIA in total offense and ranks No. 3 in passing in this week's football statistics.

Alexander, who played at Kansas University last season, has averaged 403 yards of total offense in the Braves' three games.

The 6-foot-1, 225-pound sophomore has thrown nine touchdown passes and only two interceptions while averaging 341 aerial yards per game.

"He makes big plays," Ottawa coach Chris Creighton said about Alexander.

Ottawa, 1-2, will travel to Sterling on Saturday.

BU soccer falls, 2-1

Fulton, Mo. -- Baker Unviersity's soccer team fell to William Woods College, 2-1, in overtime on Wednesday. Jen Weigel scored off an assist by Julie Charay. BU, 9-3, will meet Briarcliff College on Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.

LHS sophs tie Leavenworth

Leavenworth -- Lawrence High's sophomore soccer team tied Leavenworth, 1-1, on Wednesday. Brandon White scored off an assist by Josh Haught. Forward Colin Hamel and midfielder Blake Crabb were cited for strong play. The Lions, 5-1-3, will meet Olathe North on Monday at YSI.
