Members of the Alpha Tau Omega social fraternity at Kansas University cleaned up litter along local highways as part of an ongoing public service program here.

"From Bow and Arrow to Payroll, a story of American Indians from pre-Haskell Institute days to the late 1950s, was to be the theme of the Haskell Diamond Jubilee Pageant Oct. 24 at the school's stadium.

Some areas in the region were due to suffer a first frost, but Lawrence appeared to be outside that zone for the time being.
