Trooper cites motorist
for 122-mph speed
The Kansas Turnpike Authority on Thursday morning ticketed a motorist for allegedly driving a sports car at 122 mph on Interstate 70.
The ticket was issued after the vehicle was clocked in western Douglas County west of the Lecompton interchange. The driver of the vehiclewas heading east, said KTA Trooper Brad Bernhardt.
However, Bernhardt would not release the name of the driver or any other information, citing a possible pending trial for the ticket.
Scanner traffic indicated the vehicle was a Porsche, but Bernhardt would not confirm what kind of car it was.
A KTA spokeswoman said the fine for driving 122 mph would be $211, according to state statute.
