Lawrence High and Free State will remain in a district with Leavenworth and Topeka High for the 2000 and 2001 football seasons.
As expected, the Class 6A District 4 involving Lawrence High and Free State High will remain intact for the 2000 and 2001 football seasons.
The Kansas State High School Activities Assn. released district pairings on Wednesday, placing the two city schools with Leavenworth and Topeka again. LHS, FSHS, Leavenworth and Topeka have been grouped in the same district, used to determine state playoff qualifiers, since Free State opened in 1997.
The biggest change in Class 6A was the addition of 5A power Stilwell Blue Valley to District 1. Blue Valley North switched from District 1 to 2. Shawnee Mission Northwest moved from District 2 to 3, replacing Kansas City Washington and joining the three Olathe high schools. Washington dipped to 5A.
In districts concerning area schools, Eudora was grouped with Kansas City Ward, DeSoto and Mill Valley, the new school scheduled to open in the DeSoto district this fall. Eudora has dropped Gardner, now in 5A, from the schedule to make room for Mill Valley, which will be affiliated with the Kaw Valley League.
