Dwight -- Services for Edith Kelley Strom, 84, Dwight, were held Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999 at the Dwight United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Marion Hill Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Strom died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at a Council Grove nursing home.

She was born Jan. 11, 1915, in Vinland, the daughter of George E. and Kate (Soule) Kelley. She graduated from Vinland Rural High School in 1932 and Baker University in 1937.

Mrs. Strom was a home extension agent and had worked in Atwood in 1938 and then in St. Francis until 1943. She was a member of Dwight United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Morris County Historical Society, Santa Fe Trail Association and the Ladies' Auxiliary to Philip Gard Post No. 289 of the American Legion, Dwight. She worked with Heifer Project International, taking several trips to Mexico.

She married Malcolm Strom on Dec. 17, 1942, in St. Francis. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Byron Strom, Des Moines; a daughter, Katharine Strom-Renes, Renkum, Netherlands; three sisters, Martha Smith, Katharine Kelley and Anne Hemphill, all of Baldwin; and four grandchildren.

A son, Eric K. Strom, died in March 1944.

The family suggests memorials to the Dwight United Methodist Church or the "Give Ye Them to Eat" program of the Mexican Methodist Church, and they may be sent in care of the Kendall Funeral Chapel, 102 N. Mission St., Council Grove 66846.
