Manhattan -- Kansas University's rowing team defeated Kansas State, 17-9, in the third annual Sunflower Showdown Regatta at Tuttle Creek Reservior on Saturday.

The Jayhawks' varsity eight boat won the First Varsity Eight race with a time of 6:23.3 to clinch KU's fourth straight win over the Wildcats.

Kansas won the Novice Four, the Second Varsity Eight and the Second Novice Eight to jump to an early 9-0 lead. KSU then won the Novice Eight, Varsity Four and Third Novice Eight to tie the competition at 9-9.

The Jayhawks then won the First Varsity Eight.

In the Second Varsity Eight race, the Kansas A and B boats both defeated the Wildcats' Second Varsity Boat with time of 6:58.07 and 7:05.33.

The regatta ended the Jayhawks' fall season. KU will begin indoor workouts today.

Omaha, Neb. -- Baker University's women's baskteball team set a school record for points in a 93-74 victory over College of St. Mary on Sunday. Triece Baker scored 18 points, Amy Feuerborn 15, Angie Miller 14, Cindy Renyer 13 and Keri Zimmerman 12 for BU, 1-1. The old record for points set last year. Baker will travel to Bethany Tuesday.
