The Lawrence United Fund drive had topped $100,000 in its bid to reach the goal of $189,825.

The local school board said it was stepping up its efforts to improve the vocational and vo-tech sequences for those not interested in college.

The struggle for civil rights by Catholics in Northern Ireland was solvable only through a socialist revolution, Bernadette Devlin, Irish activist and former member of the British Parliament, told an audience of about 1,000 at Kansas University. Her visit was sponsored by the Student Union Activities forum.

The appointments of Edward Bassett as KU associate vice chancellor for academic affairs and Ralph Christofferson as assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs were formalized.
