STOCKS FALL ON UNCERTAINTY

With stocks already near record levels, the threat of inflation -- and higher interest rates -- along with the prospect of weaker corporate earnings proved more than enough to discourage stock buyers.

On Friday, the Dow fell 37.46 to close at 10,829.28. The index lost 84.04 points, or 0.77 percent, for the week.
