A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene C. "Gene" Rocker, 67, Lawrence, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Rocker died Monday, May 24, 1999, at his home following a long illness.

He was born Jan. 16, 1932, in Greeley, the son of Eugene J. and Stella (Brummel) Rocker. He moved to Lawrence in 1954 from Greeley.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the former owner of Lawrence Floor Covering and was later self-employed at Rocker Floor Covering. He retired in 1997.

He married Bernadine Setter on Feb. 5, 1955, in Greeley. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Bryan J., Oklahoma City, and Joseph D., Lawrence; a daughter, Karen Rocker Saloman, Phoenix; and three grandchildren.

A parish Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the St. John's Building Fund or the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
