Junior high school students are on a fast track to the information superhighway.
And they'll soon be teaching.
Area students took part in the first annual Generation www.Y Kansas Student Leadership Conference in Hutchinson, sponsored by the Kansas Department of Education.
Generation www.Y students have spent the past semester creating projects that help teachers incorporate technology in the classroom. The program is open to seventh-grade students.
Students who attended the conference from South Junior High were Tyler Bachert, Drew Cummings, Zach Doyle, Amanda Hermesch, Kassia Mosher, Erin Niedenthal and Matt Peltma. Tyler placed fifth in the multi-media competition.
Students who participated from West Junior High are Nicole Baker, Ilya Faibushevich, Lisa Floor, Mandy Ogunnowo, David Prosser, Eric Sheu, Ivan Sheu and Alan Sheu. Prosser brought home the first-place trophy for Web page design, and Eric Sheu took first in project design.
