Insurance company

investigates fire

An insurance company's investigation into a fire that caused an estimated $135,000 damage to a home west of Eudora could be completed by the middle of next week.

Douglas County Undersheriff Kenny Massey said sheriff's officials found no evidence pointing to arson in the Sunday fire at 1393 E. 2100 Rd.

"The insurance company has hired an investigator, and they're doing it on their end," Massey said. "There's no reason to suspect arson."

Eudora Township Fire Chief Carl Friedrich said insurance companies typically contract with their own investigators in cases where arson isn't suspected.

The fire destroyed the home, which was unoccupied and undergoing extensive remodeling. Robert Trapp and Steve Bogler, both of Kansas City, Mo., owned the two-story home.
