DALTON THOMAS VANN
Kansas City, Mo. -- Services for Dalton Thomas Vann, 59, Lee's Summit, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Morning Star Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Vann died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at Research Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 22, 1940, in Harding, the son of Elmer O. and Mildred Fran Redick Vann.
He graduated from Lawrence High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He worked at the U. S. Post Office in Kansas City, Mo., from 1965 to 1968, and then worked in long distance communications for AT&T for 21 years, retiring in 1989. He continued to work in the telecommunications field for WorldCom, Milliams Telecommunications and Ram Tech Inc.
He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
He married Harriet J. Hobley on Nov. 24, 1961. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Dalton Jr., Lee's Summit, Mo., and Darrin, Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Sherri Lynne Vann-Mitchell, Kansas City, Mo.; his mother, Lawrence; six brothers, Otis, Ohio, Duane, Kansas City, Kan., Leonard, Raytown, Mo., Brian, San Francisco, and James and Craig, both of Lawrence; two sisters, Donna Vann-Mitchell, Lawrence, and Chelia Vann, Overland Park; and four grandchildren.
