MARY J. LAWSON

Mass of Christian Burial for Mary J. Lawson, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Riverview Cemetery, Kiowa.

Mrs. Lawson died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at her home, following a long illness.

She was born June 19, 1910, in Abilene, Tex., the daughter of Junot and Elizabeth McDermott Shipman.

She attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Tex. She moved from Kiowa to Lawrence in 1968.

Mrs. Lawson was a retired sales clerk in the children's department at Weavers Department Store.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the church's Altar Society.

She married A.J. Lawson on May 23, 1948, at Enid, Okla. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Margaret Konecny, Plano, Tex.; a sister, Martha Gannaway, Ellinwood; and three grandchildren.

A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Visiting Nurses Assn. of Douglas County or to the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Building Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
