Pratt --The Wildlife and Parks Commission has increased resident firearm antlerless-only deer permits and game tags an estimated 61 percent and boosted resident firearm permits 35 percent.
Antlerless-only game tags will be available in 16 of the 18 deer management units (up from seven units last year).
As many as two $10.50 game tags can be purchased by all hunters who already possess a deer permit.
The commission also set elk season dates and permit numbers. Seventy-five antlerless only and 10 any-elk permits were authorized.
The elk season dates are as follows:
- First antlerless-only season -- Sept. 1-Oct. 31.
- Second antlerless-only season -- Nov. 1-Dec. 31.
- Third antlerless-only season -- Jan. 1-Feb. 29.
- Any-elk season -- Sept. 1-Feb. 29.
The commission also passed a regulation that makes it illegal for any person in possession of a personal water craft (PWC) to allow a person under the age of 16 to operate the vessel, unless a person 18 or older is aboard the PWC.
